FDNY Memorial Wall, a Gift from Holland & Knight,
Honors Members of the New York City Fire Department
and Holland & Knight Partner Who Perished on
9-11-2001
On
June 10, 2006 lawyers and staff from the national law firm
Holland & Knight joined former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani,
U.S. Representative Jerrold Nadler and Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta,
in a ceremony unveiling an historic 9-11 Memorial Sculpture to the New York City
Fire Department. The Memorial Wall, dedicated to the 343 members of the NYC Fire
Department, as well as volunteer firefighter Glenn J. Winuk, a partner at Holland & Knight who died on that tragic
day, is located at FDNY Engine 10 Ladder 10, directly across from the World
Trade Center site.
"It's
very hard coming here." Former
Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
This
section of the Ten House website features photos and stories of
the Memorial Wall, photos of the 343 Bravest Names inscribed on the
Wall, photos of the Dedication ceremony on June 10, 2006, and links to the
websites of the donor, Holland & Knight, and the designer, Rambusch
Company.
"We are deeply grateful to
Holland & Knight for this extraordinary gift," Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta.
The
Officers and Members of Engine Company 10 and Ladder Company 10 of the
Fire Department of the City of New York are honored to be the home for
the FDNY 9/11 Memorial Wall. We want to add our thanks to Holland &
Knight for this very fitting and inspiring tribute.
"The
time for mourning may pass, but the time for remembering never
does." President George W. Bush.
