The Story Behind the Photos:
This
album feature various random photos of Ten House life including a
couple of photos of the well equipped work out room. A few
photos were taken in December from our roof showing the progress at
the World Trade Center site across the street. The Freedom
Tower can be seen as it rises above ground level. Billy Ray
Cyrus stopped in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Students
from Clarkston Community Schools in Michigan were told the 911 Story
by FF Kenny Ruane.
There
are several photos taken at our annual Christmas party. Our
Brothers from Ladder 15 assisted in rescuing Santa from the roof so
that gifts could be presented to the kids!
Every
year 911 family members decorate a Memorial Christmas Tree adjacent
to the FDNY Memorial Wall on our west wall to remember and honor
those lost on 911. In November we were excited to attend the
Yankees championship parade near the Ten House. More pictures
from this parade can be found in the News section of the Housewatch.
We were also honored to receive Flags and Patches that were flown in
Iraq or were on combat missions.
For
the 36th consecutive year, Hunter Mountain was host to a most unusual
ski race, as members of the New York Fire Department made their annual
trip to Hunter Mountain. On February 10, 2009, teams of five
firefighters dressed in full turn-out gear navigated through a race
course while carrying a 50 foot fire hose. At the end of this
photo album are a few
pictures of the 2009 Ten House Team. Proceeds
from this event are donated to the N.Y. Firefighters Burn Center
Foundation.
Finally
are a few pictures of helicopter training conducted in 2009.
