Wedding Day

November 1st, 2001

Wedding of Dawn and John Morabito

Maui, Hawaii

John's fire department (FDNY Engine 10 Ladder10)

was across the street from the Twin Towers.

They were the first to be there rescuing people

and it was his department that lost many fire fighters

when the first Twin Tower came down.

John, himself, missed being crushed

by the falling towers. He escaped by

only 10 seconds as he quickly placed

himself in a door frame which saved his life.

John and Dawn had the most beautiful

glowing happiness during their wedding

because he made it out alive to

marry his sweetheart on Maui.

"I believe this is Maui's first wedding of one of our American heroes from September 11th attack."  Stephen Pysz - Aloha Photography

Our big Thanks and Mahalo to Stephen Pysz, Aloha Photography, for his work in sending us these wonderful pictures and story of John and Dawn! The Spirit of Aloha is alive and well here on Maui, both in the love and inspiration of experiencing every wedding... to the generous donations of time and energy on behalf of all of our Maui Wedding Network Members!
